: What Kind Of Website Do You Have?

When I talk with people about their websites, one common complaint that I hear is that they don't seem to get enough visitors to make a difference in their businesses.  When I start asking questions I usually get the "deer in the headlights" look.

In a nutshell, most of my clients with existing domains have static websites, or an online brochure.  Content wise, it  contains the same information, and everytime you visit the website, you get the same page, with the same content.  If you've visited the website once, there is not much use in visiting the website again, because nothing changes.

I alway recommend my clients set up a dynamic website, utilizing a content management system, or CMS.  A well worked CMS can offer your visitors a unique experience everytime they visit, with new and infomative content.  This website, and any of the others you visit from links here utilize a CMS.

There are many CMS programs available.  Drupal, Joomla, PHP-Nuke, and Post Nuke are just a few of the software programs available.  Personally, I use PHP-Nuke, as I consider it one of the most versitile, user friendly and secure systems.
